Both tourists and locals swarm to the Angelina Tearoom for the customary afternoon tea. While the ambiance is grand and a tad bit overwhelming, the quaint marble tables and cozy leather-backed chairs makes it a perfect venue of conversation and afternoon tea.
From 3 PM onwards, the tearoom offers Le Goûter Angelina — a set containing a selection of cocktails canapes and mini pastries, and a choice of either tea, coffee, or their world-renowned Angelina Hot Chocolate. While this set definitely offers great value, considering opting for the ala carte route.
By all means, try the Angelina Hot Chocolate. No visit to Paris would be complete without it. But if you prefer tea, the Mont-Blanc is an excellent choice. This black tea is flavored with bits of candied chestnut, biscuit, and toffee. Rounding out the taste is a hint of orange blossom and apricot flavors.
To accompany your tea, order the Caramelized Pain Perdu Style Brioche or the plain Brioche Toast which comes with a selection of accompaniments including butter, jam, honey, and chestnut cream.
To end your tea time with a more decadent treat, try the Choc Africain. This famed pastry is made of a dense chocolate brownie, topped by a dome of dark chocolate mousse, and encased in bitter dark chocolate cream. Otherwise, opt for their signature Mont-Blanc, a crisp meringue with light cream and topped with noodles of chestnut cream. That ends the perfect Angelina Tearoom afternoon tea experience.
